Technical Support Hub

The Caribbean HIV&AIDS Alliance has established a Centre of Excellence - A Technical Support Hub which providestechnical support to the English speaking Caribbean and Haiti.

Within the Alliance family of linking organisations hubs have been established with the vision that communities are enabled to effectively respond to HIV: to ensure that  learning outcomes are available and knowledge is shared to improve regional and global deliverables and prevent duplication; that the technical support needs of Alliance linking organisations in the region as well as other key civil society stakeholders in the HIV response are being met; and that HIV technical and organisational development capacity of organisations receiving services from the Alliance Technical Support Hubs has increased. Hubs aim to achieve this vision by strengthening technical expertise within the region to respond to the epidemic through providing timely, context-specific and high quality technical support services to client organisations.

Technical support is delivered by the Hubs using an array of methods, including:

  • One-to-one technical support conducted through field visits or desk-based support and mentoring. This type of support provides uniquely tailored solutions to a client's situation and involves close work with an individual, a team or a whole organisation to develop, introduce and further support comprehensive improvements in the way they operate.
  • Workshops and trainings developed and facilitated for a variety of audiences, including internal staff of the requesting organisation, representatives of civil society, key populations and other individual and institutional stakeholders. Participatory methods are used particularly when working with the communities responding to the HIV epidemic.
  • Development and review of toolkits or other publications using the latest best practices from the Secretariat, Alliance Country Offices, Linking Organisations and other partner organisations at local and global levels.
  • Development and review of funding proposals supporting fundraising efforts of individual organisations, country and regional co-ordinating mechanisms, regional and other initiatives.
